Sponsor our minister James in the Causeway Coast Triathlon
On 17th June, James will be competing in his first triathlon (the full Olympic distance of a 1 mile swim, 26 mile cycle and 6 mile run). The sponsorship received will be split between:
- Support for his visit to Nigeria and Malawi – 90%: and
- Cancer research – 10%.
Visit to Nigeria August 2017
For many years Lowe church has been involved in outreach work in Nigeria in partnership with Mission Africa. Under the leadership of Mission Africa representatives, James and two other members of the church plan to visit Nigeria in early August 2017.
The team will visit three ongoing projects:
- the work at the orphanages and school in Kaduna State;
- the building of a medical and outreach centre to the Bassa and Fulani people in Bassaland, Nasawara State; and
- the Peter Achimugu College and ‘Advance’ Aids Education and Treatment Centre in Kogi State.
During their visit the team will not only be carrying out physical work but will also be involved in teaching, training and evangelism among the local people in each area.
Funding is ongoing to supply much needed clothing and footwear for the orphans, medical resources for each of the clinics and teaching resources for the school, college and education centre.
Over the years, strong and lasting friendships have been built with the tribal leaders. Team members hope to meet with and encourage them. Although the practical gifts given can only be small, we believe that this will bless and remind them that they and their people are not forgotten by our church in what are very difficult times for them.
Visit to Malawi
On completion of his studies for the ministry, James spent a year in Malawi. This summer he has a remarkable opportunity to renew fellowship with some of the people he got to know during that time, to bring practical support to them and encouragement to their churches as they cope with the effects of drought.
